Forensic Health Studies

This certificate program, and workshops, are offered in partnership with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) with a flexible learning and multidisciplinary curriculum designed for health care and law enforcement professionals. It is delivered by recognized experts in their respective fields, as well as guest speakers and professors from the BCIT.

Professional Development Opportunities
Dependent on space, subjects may be taken for professional development purposes on an individual course basis without formally applying to the program. A Police Reference Check and permission of the program co-ordinator are still required.

Credit transfer/Advanced Standing

  • Ryerson Post RN Nursing Students - Credits from the Forensic Health Studies program may be used as transfer credits at the Ryerson School of Nursing. Each situation will be assessed on an individual basis.
  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) - If you are a SANE that has taken the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training from the Ontario Network of Sexual Assault Care and Treatment Centres, you are eligible to write a challenge exam for FHS565, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Core Education-Theoretical Aspects subject. If you pass the exam (60%), you will receive credit for this subject (FHS565).

British Columbia Institute of Technology is a recognized leader in the field of forensic education.  BCIT's curriculum has been incorporated into the program offered by Seneca and uses standards which are designed specifically for Ontario.
