Program Description

The Alternative Learning Lab (TALL) is an academic upgrading and computer applications training program offered on a continuous intake basis throughout the year. As a student, you’ll learn through the use of the latest technology, in combination with classroom teaching and other alternate delivery modes. You’ll also benefit from flexible scheduling and a variety of learning options. Working with your program advisor or co-ordinator, you’ll have the opportunity to customize the learning program to suit your individual needs as identified in the initial assessment.

You may also pursue non-computer based academic subjects including English, Mathematics, Science and Communications and Self Management, through the Academic Upgrading program.

Application to the program is made directly at the site of choice:

Admission Requirements

Program Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be 19 years of age or older

Applicant Selection:

  • Academic assessments are required to evaluate the student’s English and Mathematics levels. These assessments are held on a continual basis.
  • All applicants are required to attend a personal interview with the program staff prior to admission to the program.

The Importance of Learning Skills:

Student success in college requires well developed learning skills (such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic achievement. While it is expected that applicants would have developed these skills through previous education and life experiences, Seneca offers support to assist students with further development of these important skills.

Career/Educational Opportunities

Upon completion of selected training modules/ subjects, you may be eligible for a Faculty of Workforce Skills Development Certificate, specifying the completed modules; entry into full-time/part-time post-secondary college programs or skills training programs such as the Business Office Skills certificate program.
