The Business Administration - Purchasing and Supply Management program provides graduates with key knowledge that has direct relevance in today’s multi-dimensional workplace. This Business Administration program has a strong focus on the management function, and the skills and resources that develop a successful manager.
The first four semesters, common to all programs in the School of Business Management, provide a practical and innovative education grounded in contemporary management theory.
In the final two semesters, the student develops an understanding of the interrelationships between purchasing, vendor selection, logistics and the role of technology. The graduates understand the integrated approach to planning, acquisition, flow and distribution of goods from raw materials to finished products.
Our students also benefit from our close ties with a vast array of employers. This strong relationship ensures that the program is continuously aligned to meet the current demands of today's organizations.
The learning experience is further enriched through seminars, plant tours, case analysis, and business simulations.

The Business Administration - Purchasing and Supply Management program provides graduates with the critical business abilities related to supply chain, purchasing, inventory control and management. Graduates move on to meaningful careers in purchasing, supply chain management, and logistics. Industries seeking graduates include government, as well as profit and not-for-profit organizations.
In 2009, Seneca became the first institution in Canada to have their full-time programs accredited by the Canadian Institute of Management (C.I.M.). Students graduating from the Business Administration - Purchasing and Supply Management program will have met all the requirements for the C.I.M. designation once they have completed two years of managerial work experience and made appropriate application to the Canadian Institute of Management.
Graduates will have completed all requirements and can make application to CPSA to recieve a Certificate of Professional Sales from the Canadian Professional Sales Association. Graduates will have also met all the educational requirements for the CPSA’s professional designation - Certified Sales Professional CSP.
The Business Administration - Purchasing and Supply Management program has developed strong partnerships with two leading industry certification bodies. The Purchasing Managers Association of Canada (PMAC) offers our students free membership, and opportunities to participate in networking events, attend conferences and workshops with the Ontario Institute of PMAC. This provides our students with an invaluable chance to meet and network with people in the field. In addition, the Association for Operations Management (APICS), an International Organization, offers students the chance to join the Seneca Student Chapter, and participate in field trips to local facilities and network with guest speakers from various industries. There are leadership positions available with the APICS Student Chapter, as well as the chance to apply for a scholarship to attend the International APICS Conference. Students in the APICS Executive coordinate the Resume Package for graduating students.
Student success in college requires well developed learning skills (such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic achievement. While it is expected that applicants would have developed these skills through previous education and life experiences, Seneca offers support to assist students with further development of these important skills.

The common curriculum in the first two years provides students with the flexibility to transfer all earned credits to the four Business Administration programs listed in the chart below. The first four semesters are offered at both Newnham and Markham Campuses. The fifth and sixth semesters of these programs are only offered at Newnham Campus.
Further flexibility is provided through pathways to other programs in the Faculty of Business. The School of Business Management has a substantially common first-year curriculum with the Schools of Marketing and e-Business, International Business, Accounting and Financial Services, and the Centre for Human Resources. Therefore, students can transfer to programs in these other schools with credits already earned for the first year.

"Seneca College is a great learning environment. The program gave me a concrete foundation, drive, insight into the industry of my choice along with student associations which helped me become involved with the school and the industry. Without Seneca's professionalism from all corridors, I would not have accomplished the position that I am in now."
