Counselling and Disability Services at Seneca College is now offering psychoeducational assessment and brief psychotherapy services to members of the community.  Under the supervision of consulting psychologist Dr. Ed Blackstock, our team of assessors is available to assess individuals from the age of 6-89 years.  Our waiting list is short and testing can be completed in two half days or one full day depending on the age of the individual.

Our price for an assessment is competitive:

  • For members of the community the cost is $1,800 for one comprehensive psychoeducational assessment including parent and teacher feedback, testing for cognition, memory, attention and executive functions, social-emotional-behavioural issues, and academic skills.  Each assessment also includes a feedback session with Dr. Blackstock and a comprehensive written report.  Parents may request an assessment for their child by contacting our clinic directly and confidentially.
  • For full-time Seneca students, the cost is adjustable depending on funds available (insurance, BSWD, family resources, etc.).
  • Multiple assessments requested by a school board are eligible for a significant discount.  It may also be possible for our assessors to do the assessments on site at a school if testing rooms can be provided.
  • Brief psychotherapy is also available for such issues as stress management, coping with illness such as cancer, anxiety, depression, grief, and other difficult life experiences.

The cost of our psychological services is often covered under extended health benefit plans or insurance company settlements. For college or university students approved by OSAP, the assessment cost can be recovered via the Bursary for Students with Disability when approved by the Counselling/Disability Services at a student’s college or university.

Our expertise in education and assistive technology will ensure that the assessment and recommendations arising from the assessment will be up-to-date and relevant to the program of education for each of our clients.  We are confident that you will find the assessment service at Seneca College timely, cost effective, and of the highest quality.  To book an appointment, please call our clinic at 416-491-5050, ext. 2828.
